Mechanized Maize Farming in the Republic of Congo

Silco Agri Sarl operates 1,400 hectares of fully mechanized maize cultivation in Mouindi, Bouenza region, Republic of Congo. With proven yields of 4.1 t/ha, we supply SGMP and BRASCO under pre-signed offtake contracts, delivering 4,600 tonnes of maize from a 100% mechanized operation.

Who We Are

Silco Agri Sarl is a Congolese agricultural company headquartered in Mouindi, Bouenza region, Republic of Congo. The company was established to industrialize maize and soy production in Central Africa through fully mechanized, large-scale farming. Our team combines local agronomic expertise with international agribusiness experience, supported by long-term partnerships with established operators in the region. Silco Agri is structured as a commercial farming operation focused on import substitution, food security, and reliable supply to the Congolese feed and brewing industries.

The 2026/27 Campaign

For the 2026/27 campaign, Silco Agri will cultivate 1,400 hectares of maize on cleared and prepared land in the Bouenza region. Based on proven field results from previous campaigns, the operation targets a total production of 4,600 tonnes of maize grain. All 1,400 hectares are fully mechanized, from land preparation and planting through chemical application and harvest. The campaign uses certified seed varieties adapted to the agro-ecological conditions of southern Congo and a fertilization plan calibrated to local soil analyses.

Offtake Contracts with SGMP and BRASCO

The entire 4,600-tonne maize production of the 2026/27 campaign is secured through pre-signed offtake agreements with two anchor buyers in the Republic of Congo: SGMP (Société Générale de Minoterie et Provenderie), the country's leading animal feed manufacturer, and BRASCO (Brasseries du Congo), the dominant brewing group in Central Africa and a Heineken affiliate. These contracts guarantee purchase of the harvest at agreed reference prices, eliminating market risk and ensuring stable revenue for the campaign. Both buyers currently import the majority of their maize requirements, and Silco Agri's local supply directly substitutes these imports.

Proven Yield of 4.1 t/ha

Silco Agri's projected yield of 4.1 tonnes per hectare is not theoretical: it is based on results already achieved on the company's own fields during previous campaigns in Bouenza. This yield is supported by mechanized soil preparation, certified seed, calibrated fertilization, integrated pest management, and trained field teams. The 4.1 t/ha benchmark is significantly above the regional smallholder average and provides a conservative basis for production and revenue planning across the 1,400-hectare operation.

Post-Harvest Infrastructure Project

To secure the quality and value of the harvest, Silco Agri is developing a dedicated post-harvest infrastructure project with a total investment of 524 million FCFA. The project includes a 4,000-tonne grain drying and storage facility located close to the production fields in Mouindi. The installation comprises industrial dryers, calibrated silos, intake and cleaning equipment, and dispatch infrastructure for truck loading. This capacity allows the company to harvest at optimal moisture, dry grain to storage standards, and deliver to SGMP and BRASCO on a scheduled basis throughout the year, rather than depending on immediate post-harvest sales.
